Regenerative Easter

Easter comes with an abundance of chocolate…but also A LOT of plastic. A survey from the UK last year found that Easter Egg plastic accounted for more than 3,000 tonnes of waste, and although some brands are heavier on packaging than others, the question really is, do we really need it and what alternatives are there?

Companies are being called to do more about their plastic habits, especially for children. In this era of excess and busyness, we want to create products that tells a story across generations through simplicity and beauty without harming the planet.

As with any new product development here at LE HQ, we wanted to strike the right balance between deliciousness, market demand, labour, and of course, packaging. We wanted to release the Boobook eggs in time for Easter, but without the excessive packaging. We enlisted the talents of local artist, Marc Martin, to design our box with ‘friends of the Great Forest National Park’ theme as 50% of profits goes to the Great Forest National Park campaign.

The design is a gift experience that educates our community on the campaign while keeping in line with our signature style and not compromising on compostable film and boxes that are printed with vegetable inks.

Change takes time, but it’s the shifts in how we spend our time and money, as companies and as individuals, that prioritise reducing plastic and seeking out alternatives, that can have the biggest impact.

That’s how we’re helping regenerate this Easter, product-wise. People wise, a few ways we’re going to be spending a low pressure break…

Spending time in nature
The change of season is the perfect time to head outside and enjoy the beauty of nature. If you’re stuck on ideas, check out our archived post from last year for things to do in the Yarra Valley (which would be part of the GFNP!)

Eating good food
Hearty, filling, nourishing and tasty. Cook up a feast to share with friends and family that can be enjoyed together. And don’t forget dessert (we won’t be!). Check out some Easter themed recipes and ideas herehere, and here.

Treating Ourself
No set alarms, reading entire books in a day, eating chocolate for breakfast, however you indulge and let yourself relax, take that time to fill the cup back up.
